Summary

This systematic exploration of real-world stress analysis has been completely updated to reflect state-of-the-art methods and applications now used in aeronautical, civil, and mechanical engineering, and engineering mechanics. Distinguished by its exceptional visual interpretations of solutions,  Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Applied Elasticity  offers in-depth coverage for both students and engineers. The authors carefully balance comprehensive treatments of solid mechanics, elasticity, and computer-oriented numerical methods–preparing readers for both advanced study and professional practice in design and analysis.

Author Biography

Daniel A. Crowl, professor emeritus of chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University, has researched and taught chemical process safety for over 20 years. Now a process safety consultant, his affiliations include AIChE Fellow, CCPS Fellow, Lew Bicking Award; and American Chemical Society (DCHAS Fellow, Faucett Award).

Joseph F. Louvar has taught safety, risk analysis, and DOE as research professor at Wayne State University, and served as director of chemical engineering at BASF. He has chaired AIChE’s Undergraduate Education Committee (SACHE) of the Center for Chemical Process Safety, served on its Safety and Loss Prevention Committee, and earned multiple honors from AIChE and Wayne State.
