If Alexander the Great wept at the age of 33 because there were no more worlds left to conquer, Bobby Jones beat him by five years. In a nine-year period before he retired from the game at the age of 28, he won or finished second in the U.S. Open eight times, won the British Open three times, the U.S. Amateur five times, and the British Amateur once, amassing a total of 13 major championships. He stood at the absolute pinnacle of the game and was one of the most recognized celebrities in the world.

Author Biography

O. B. Keeler is a famed golf writer and the long-time chronicler of Bobby Jones’ career. Bobby Jones was the most successful amateur golfer to ever compete at the national an international level. He won nine PGA Tour tournaments, including a Grand Slam, by winning all four major golf tournaments in a single year. Jack Nicklaus is a professional golfer who won 18 major PGA championship and is widely regarded as the greatest golfer of all time. Grantland Rice was an early 20th century sportswriter. Dr. Robert Tyre Jones IV is the grandson of the legendary golfer Bobby Jones.
