Author Biography

Paul Stickland is the hugely talented author, illustrator, and pop-up book engineer renowned for his colorful dinosaurs and tremendous trucks. Paul has had a long and illustrious career working on many different projects, but he is best known for his children’s books, most notably as the illustrator of the modern classic Dinosaur Roar!. Paul’s children’s books also include Ten Terrible Dinosaurs; Swamp Stomp!; A Number of Dinosaurs; One Bear, One DogThe Christmas Bear; and many more. Inspired by his artist and illustrator grandfather, Geoffrey Squire, and his very creative parents, Paul has always loved working with children and is a passionate advocate for exploring children’s creativity through picture and pop-up books. He is always looking into new projects and is particularly interested in using the techniques of paper folding and pop-up technology in different disciplines outside the publishing world. Paul lives in Sherborne, Dorset, with his bookseller and musician wife and their daughter, with constant visits from Paul’s five creative and musical sons.

Henrietta Stickland is an acclaimed author and businesswoman. She has been creating children’s books for thirty years and championing and giving a voice to new writers and illustrators of picture books, a genre she has always been passionate about. Her best known work, Dinosaur Roar! has roared into the hearts of millions of children all over the world. Over the years, it has sold millions of copies, been translated into more than twenty languages across different formats, and become a modern classic. Having given up the bright lights of London children’s publishing and moved to the countryside, Henrietta set up her publishing company Ragged Bears in the late 1980s, where for many years she put her talent and eye for good children’s books to professional use. Today, Henrietta has four grown-up sons and a menagerie of animals. When not writing from her home on the Somerset-Dorset border, you will find her in her organic garden, riding horses or walking her dogs through the beautiful countryside, and running an agricultural business with her husband.
