Summary

Electrospray Mass Spectrometry: Fundamentals, Instrumentation, and Applications, Second Edition is an extensively updated version of the original guide. It explores the coupling of electrospray ionization to various mass spectrometers, including quadrupole ion trap, magnetic, time-of-flight, and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance instruments. It introduces new fields (proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) that have flourished largely due to electrospray mass spectrometry. Encompassing fundamentals, instrumentation, applications, and analytical aspects, this is a key reference for researchers using electrospray mass spectrometry and for scientists in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Author Biography

Richard B. Cole, PhD, is a University Research Professor in The Department of Chemistry at The University of New Orleans. He has spent more than twenty-five years working in the field of mass spectrometry. His research interests include analytical/bio-organic chemistry as well as fundamentals and applications of mass spectrometry, with a focus on the development of novel analytical methods employing electrospray and MALDI.
