Summary

A must-read for armchair travelers...for "journal" buffs...for lovers of French history...for American adventurers and everyday dreamers -- a true-life Innocents Abroad....

In 1950, John S. Littell dreamed of turning his life into a Hemingwayesque adventure. His wife Mary was an optimist who shared her husband's sense of fun. So what happens when they set off for the South of France with their two young sons? The result is French Impressions, a riveting, whimsical, and uproarious account of the Littells' time abroad, based on Mary's journals and diaries -- with a marvelous collection of family photos.

Author Biography

A writer and former publishing executive, John S. Littell lives in New York City. His mother, Mary W. Littell, was a successful journalist in the 1950s and 60s, regularly contributing to women’s magazines such as Parents and Woman’s Day. Mary is now deceased. Writing this book in her memory has been a labor of love for her son.
