Author Biography

Hugh Johnson began his prodigious and distinguished career as a wine connoisseur with membership in the Wine and Foood Society at Cambridge University. He succeeded the legendary André Simon as editor of Wine & Food and served concurrently as general secretary of the International Wine and Food Society. Johnson has established himself as the preeminent authority on wine with such titles as The World Atlas of Wine, Vintage: The Story of Wine, The Modern Encyclopedia of Wine, and his bestselling annual Pocket Encyclopedia of Wine.
